"heirloom" - (n.): a valued possession that is passed down in a family through succeeding generations.

This little countertop drawer cupboard is the oldest "heirloom" my husband and I have accumulated in our twenty year union. I purchased it shortly after we were married, when *EVERYTHING* that caught my eye had a heart or a heart cutout on it. (Come on ... be honest ... I bet you had a few of *those* pieces, too!).

This poor little thing has been all over the house ... and almost discarded a time or two ...

but a fresh coat of distressed paint, many years ago, and a permanent spot on the kitchen counter ... and, well, yeah ...

I wonder which one of my children will "put their name on the back"?
